Youth Outreach Kits

The Minnesota Discovery Center, Lyric Center for the Arts, North St. Louis SWCD and their We Are Water MN partners invite local families to utilize free take-home activity kits to explore their relationship with water.

The kits include 5 activities that invite users to explore and learn about our water resources from watercolor painting to science experiments. The activity kits are available for pickup at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm or Lyric Center for the Arts in Virginia starting November 26th until they run out.  A limited number are also available to reserve by request. About 200 kits were made with families in mind to provide fun for youth, teens and adults, and families with children ages 5 and older. The activities align with concepts visitors can explore through the traveling that was on display at the Discovery Center over the summer and is still available to view online as a virtual exhibit at www.wearewaterironrange.com. The North St. Louis SWCD, Lyric Center for the Arts, Minnesota Discovery Center, RMB Environmental Laboratories, and Bois Forte Heritage Center, and other We Are Water MN Partners helped create the activities included in the kit.

The We Are Water MN program encourages people to learn about water issues statewide and in their community. It is a project of the Minnesota Humanities Center and its project partners are the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS), and the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources.

We Are Water MN is funded in part by money from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and the Clean Water Fund that was created with the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
